Services and How We Support Professionals
Supporting Professionals
Base 51 have devised a range of offers for schools and professionals to enable us to support young people with their mental health and ease the pressure on faculties, who may be having to work outside of their expertise to help students with serious mental health concerns.

Counselling and mental health support
In our Counselling we work hard to have shorter waiting lists that other services so their mental health can be supported – we also understand that income can be a barrier to many who need support, so we offer free and subsided counselling to young people from deprived households.
Our counselling waitlist is currently closed, as we work through those already on the list. Email counselling@base51.org.uk to be alerted when it reopens.
A Safe Space
Our Youth Club gives young people a safe space to go after school/college, helping to reduce social isolation and give them inspiration to grow. Youth clubs keep young people off the streets where they are vulnerable to gangs, exploitation and anti-social behaviour – giving them a somewhere to talk to trusted adults and expand their social groups.
LGBTQIA+ Group – Outburst
Outburst, our LGBTQIA+ group, is an inclusive place for young people in the LGBTQIA+ Community. Somewhere they can explore their feelings, talk to people who understand what they are going through, and meet likeminded young people. It’s a safe and inclusive space where they won’t feel judged.
“If someone was thinking about coming to Base 51, I’d say that it is a safe space for everyone where you can come and be yourself without the fear of being judged. It’s also a place where tons of support is available.”

“Counselling sounds weird because we don’t usually talk to strangers about yourself, but that’s what’s good! They don’t have a particular image of you. Being face to face and seeing that someone is understanding and listening helps.”
