BASE 51 Safeguarding Policy

Base 51 is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults (referred to as young people) and will take all reasonable steps to protect them from neglect, sexual, emotional or physical harm. This policy applies to all paid staff and volunteers who will at all times show respect for and an understanding of the rights, safety and welfare of young people within the principles and ethos of Base 51. All young people regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, disability, race, nationality or country of origin, have the same rights to protection. Base 51 works with young people aged 11 – 25 and includes; young families, their children and vulnerable adults from the age of 18 in this policy.
This commitment is reflected in our recruitment, induction and training for paid and voluntary staff (including trustees) and learners enrolled on to courses. This policy is in line with the Children Act 1989 and 2004; Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018; Children and Social Work Act 2017; Data Protection Act 2018 and the General Data Protection Regulations 2018
